Unreal Engine Technical Design and Development

Highway Code (Unreal Engine Collab Project)

Overview

This map was developed for a collaboration project, in which I was a senior programmer/technical designer among 22 other people. This collaboration project was completed over a 9 week period.

Gameplay consist of 2 players, 1v1  where the player who delivers the most packages wins and during gameplay random world states will go off the effect gameplay along side powerups.

I was tasked with implementing mechanics from the design team using blueprint in Unreal Engine. I was also mainly tasked with creating the vehicle and testing/modifying values to make the vehicles fit the style of the game, but also created other mechanics such as slippery friction mechanics or the ramps that launch the vehicle. Jira was used to manage tasks across the team.

What I Learnt
1)How to take on a senior mentor role and how I can support juniors with development of the project.

2)Improved my technical designing skills,  by finding the fun with the car driving mechanics through modifying values and blueprint implementation.

3)Improved my teamwork and communication skills.

4)Better understanding of Jira to manage tasks across the team.

5)Importance of regularly check ups to see what's being implemented and if priorities change on certain features.
